1. The Introduction of XIPU AI Platform

Overview:

XIPU AI Platform was launched in September 2023 by Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University. This AI system leverages large language models like Microsoft Azure OpenAI and Deepseek, utilizing advanced technologies in natural language processing, image processing, machine learning, and big data analysis. It aims to provide customized learning experiences and teaching support in the education sector. Notably, XIPU AI integrates over twenty models, including GPT and multimodal models like Midjourney, creating a diverse ecosystem that allows users to select suitable models for various needs, from academic research to creative writing.

 

 

The innovativeness of the XIPU AI Platform lies in its technical integration capabilities and adaptability to vertical scenarios.

• Multi-Model Intelligent Platform:

The platform integrates advanced models like GPT-4o, DeepSeek V3/R1, and Claude, supporting text, image, and video generation (e.g., Luma, Runway). Users can freely switch models based on their needs. For example, DeepSeek R1 is recommended for mathematical problem-solving due to its reasoning capabilities, while GPT-4o is better suited for creative writing. 

• Scenario-Based Functional Design:

In teaching, featuring an AI tutor within the Learning Mall Core system that provides instant answers to student queries. It offers clear explanations and guidance, especially in programming courses, where it supplies pseudocode examples. The platform's multi-model dialogue and image generation functions support international faculty and students, fostering creativity and enhancing academic capabilities. In art and design courses, students utilize image generation to transform ideas into visual works, broadening their creative horizons.

In administrative management, the XIPU AI Platform's agents enhance efficiency by creating departmental knowledge bases and providing quick responses to repetitive inquiries. They assist in student affairs by answering common questions about course selection and exam schedules, allowing staff to focus on more complex tasks.

 

The XIPU AI Platform covers a full range of needs for learning and teaching.

• AI Chat: Users can freely choose from the LLMs repository and set up dialogue configurations themselves to reduce AI hallucinations and ensure the accuracy of responses.
• Image Generation: Integrates Midjourney and DALL·E 3, also offering extra tools like "partial redrawing" and "style reference" to meet art and design needs.
• Agent: Users can create custom AI assistants (e.g., "Finance Tutor," "Academic Writing Advisor").
• Application Centre: Features built-in tools like mind maps and flowcharts (powered by GPT-4o) and document parsing (Kimi model) to streamline academic workflows.
• Knowledge Management: Supports uploading 7 types of files (e.g., PDF, PPT), with personal knowledge bases offering 100MB/file capacity, helping teachers and students build personalized knowledge systems.

From a strategic perspective, the XIPU AI Platform is one of the core enablers of XJTLU Education + AI Strategic Framework 2025-2028. It supports the university’s goal of becoming a global leader in AI-driven higher education, integrating AI into undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs.
